Film competition

1. This competition is promoted by The National Autistic Society, a company limited by guarantee, registration number 01205298 and a charity registered in England and Wales under number 269425 and in Scotland under number SC039427, whose registered office is 393 City Road, London, EC1V 1NG. 

2. By entering this competition all entrants (referred to as 'you' from now on):

  • agree to be bound by these terms and conditions and by the film brief and other promotional material on this website, which form part of these terms and conditions
  • warrant that your film is entirely your own work and does not infringe the intellectual property rights, privacy rights or any other rights of any third party
  • confirm that you have the consent of all persons who appear in your film to your submitting it to us to publish and otherwise use in accordance with these terms and conditions and associated material on this website
  • maintain that your film does not contain anything that is libellous, defamatory, obscene, indecent, harassing or threatening
  • consent to us editing or refusing to publish your film if we decide that your entry does not comply fully with these terms and conditions and the associated materials on this website
  • grant a non-exclusive, worldwide, irrevocable licence to The National Autistic Society to use, display, publish, transmit, copy, make derivative works from, edit, store and re-format (but not sell for financial gain) your film
  • consent to your name and image being used in any publicity material produced by The National Autistic Society. All other personal data relating to you will be used only with your consent and in accordance with current UK data protection legislation.

3. This competition is open to entrants from any country. You can enter provided you are over the age of 18 on the date of submission of your entry, or if you are under 18, you can enter if you can provide written consent (in English) of someone with parental responsibility for you. Employees of The National Autistic Society, their close relatives and anyone else connected with the organising or judging of this competition are not permitted to enter.
 
4. There is no entry fee but if you attend an award ceremony you are responsible for all incidental associated costs (like travel and accommodation). Shortlisted entrants will receive one free ticket to the event.
 
5. You may only make one entry, and in only one category (aspiring filmmaker, student filmmaker or professional filmmaker). If you make more than one entry, or if you make another entry under a different name or names, all your entries will be disqualified. Entries made that are in a foreign language must have English subtitles.

6. Entries that are deemed to be incomplete or in breach of any of these terms and conditions or associated promotional material on this website, or which appear not to enter into the proper spirit of the competition, will be disqualified. 

7. The closing time and date for entries is 11.59pm (Greenwich Mean Time) on Saturday 31 December 2016. All entries received after this time will be disqualified and no responsibility will be accepted for entries received late or not received, for any reason.
 
8. We will not be required to return your entry, whether it is accepted or disqualified. You should therefore keep a copy of your film.
 
9. Personal data about you will be kept by The National Autistic Society, D&AD and Don’t Panic for a reasonable period after the competition closes to help us deal with any queries or marketing that result from the competition. (D&AD and Don’t Panic are partners with The National Autistic Society).
 
10. We reserve the right to cancel or amend the competition details and/or these terms and conditions without notice in the event of an event outside of our control. Any changes to these terms and conditions or to the competition generally will be effective immediately upon being posted on this website.
 
11. All entries will be evaluated by a panel of judges chosen by The National Autistic Society. The judges will provide a shortlist of films, all of which will be shown at an awards ceremony in London in April 2017 (date and venue to be confirmed). The judges will also chose a winner in each of the three categories and those winners will be invited to attend the ceremony to receive their winner’s trophy. The judges' decisions will be final and no discussion or correspondence will be entered into by them or by us. Our decisions about all matters relating to the competition generally or to these terms and conditions will also be final. The judges and The National Autistic Society are not responsible for inaccurate prize details supplied to you by any third party.
 
12. The competition and these terms and conditions will be governed by English law and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
