Autism-friendly organisation

Our Autism Friendly Award champions organisations who commit to making sure that autistic visitors receive the same warm welcome as everybody else. This doesn’t mean investing in expensive alterations or training your staff to be autism experts. Small changes can make a massive difference to autistic visitors and just a little understanding can go a long way.

We've worked with organisations including airports, heritage sites, sports arenas, local hairdressers and high street stores. Every customer-facing organisation, whatever their size or business, can benefit from becoming autism-friendly.

How do we support employers?

Autism-friendly actions

There are many actions your company can take to make the world more autism-friendly. Last year, we worked with more than 20 public venues and organisations to achieve this goal.

Thousands of people attended autism-friendly performances we supported, from Disney’s The Lion King and Ambassador Theatre Group’s Wicked, to Christmas pantomimes, War Horse and Matilda the Musical. In Scotland, we’ve been working with Glasgow IMAX to organise autism-friendly cinema sessions. 

We also supported the development of an ‘Easy Dressing’ school uniform collection by Marks and Spencer. This range aimed to reduce the impact of sensory sensitivities related to traditional school uniforms. As well as working with pupils from our Helen Allison School to develop the range, M&S also donated 10% from every item sold in the first year.
